We all have a part of our brain that is constantly scanning for threats to our safety. This can be in the form or a physical threat (i.e being attacked or a poisonous snake), social (i.e exclusion / rejection) or being critical of ourselves. The brain and body react in the same way getting ready to fight (anger) or run away (anxiety).
During the fight or flight the pathway we think in, changes from a slower more rational route to a very quick pathway designed for action, i.e slamming on the breaks in a car.
Welcome to CBT Resources, where we believe that everyone has the ability to heal and grow.
